What is a VTT?
VTT stands for Virtual Tabletop. Simply put, is a platform that lets people play tabletop roleplaying games (like Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, and more) online-complete with maps, dice, character sheets, and shared storytelling tools.
Why I choose to use Foundry VTT:
Great for Players:
-
FoundryVTT only requires that the host hold a license, players don’t need to buy any software or pay subscriptions.
Ever.
-
Accessing it couldn’t be easier- just click a link in their browser, log in, and you’re in. The interface is clean, intuitive, and works without a steep learning curve.
I’ve even had players connect and view the foundry all on their smartphone!
Great for GM’s:
-
Utilizing native tools I am able to build deeply immersive worlds with bespoke, living, and interactive landing pages and maps. Complete with dynamic lighting, evocative music and atmosphere and so much more.
-
All the modules are made through the extremely active and passionate community which build further upon the impressive framework of Foundry and take it truly to another level.
-
Systems are via selectable modules which allow for compatibility with truly any of the thousands of TTRPG’s that exist.
-
Foundry is a one-time purchase for the me. That means no ongoing fees, and I have complete control over my IP and setup.
I plan to eventually have my foundry running on a standalone home server where players can access at any time to made updates and visit.
